TREPART s.r.o. carried out the complete demolition of the existing four-span bridge in Brno.
The bridge consisted of longitudinal continuous steel girders with a monolithic reinforced concrete deck supported by two end abutments and three intermediate supports.
The asphalt layers of the roadway were removed by milling. Bridge accessories such as steel railings, lighting, and vehicle barriers were dismantled. This was followed by the removal of the parapet and the cutting of the entire reinforced concrete bridge structure longitudinally along the axis between the individual steel girders. These cut sections were divided into thirds along their length and gradually lifted by a mobile crane off the bridge deck onto trucks and transported away from the site, where they were further broken down into smaller pieces.
After the girders were removed, the remaining parts of the substructure—the existing piers in the bed of the Svratka River (including foundations and piles)—were also completely demolished.
All demolished material was immediately removed from the riverbed and transported to a controlled landfill, where it was properly disposed of in accordance with applicable legislation.
Demolition work was carried out using heavy demolition and crane equipment. All activities were conducted with due regard for the environment and to minimize the negative impacts of the construction.
